Things I am still struggling with:
1. Working out...the weather is horrible here so I haven't really been taking walks outside. I am considering buying a treadmill but I am scared I will make the investment and not use it enough...do any of you own a treadmill?
2. Drinking water...I just can't seem to drink water and I really should be especially since I am nursing! How do you make sure you drink enough water?
Fruit Ice?!
I really want to make this fruit ice, I love chewing on ice
and I think these would make a delicious and refreshing treat, don't you?!

I was talking to my parents about drinking water the other day and my dad recommended eating foods that have a lot of water in them, like Popsicles or soup. I've tried to eat more Popsicles than ice cream lately, and since I gave up pop for Lent, have tried to replace that with water most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI struggle with water too but a BIG help for me is Mio water flavorings. I drink three times as much when flavored a little. I also have lots of great recipes in this post for spa water recipes. They are super delish too.

The only way I drink enough water is by drinking seltzer. I have the soda stream machine and flavor it with fresh lemon or lime! I honestly can not get enough! It also has to be ICE cold with crushed ice! I absolutely HATE flat water.
ReplyDeleteAs for the treadmill....I would suggest an elliptical instead. I find it burn many more calories, more of a total workout
i struggle with working out as well... but I will say, for the first time in a couple years, the past 5 weeks, I have got my butt to the gym 3x a week to work on the treadmill. I have been doing the C25k app... and its been a real butt kicker, but it gives me something to motivate myself by... and to work harder each time. If I had the means to buy a treadmill right now, I would. I say do it... and at the very least, you could walk while watching one of your favorite shows!
ReplyDeleteAs far as water.. Im only 27, and I have already had 4 kidney stones in my life... so that was the big life changer as far as drinking water. I used to drink NONE... as in the most water that touched my lips was when brushing my teeth. Try to have a goal... as to drink so many oz by a certain time. If plain water is hard for you to down, try True Lemon. They have other flavors like orange and lime, and you just sprinkle it in your water. Its made from real crystallized fruit.
Props to you for doing weight watchers while nursing! I was STARVING the entire year I was nursing and ate everything in sight. I think nursing really helps with weight loss too, it was a little slow at first but after a few months the weight just fell off! Good Luck:)
ReplyDeleteI used to have the same problem with not drinking enough water. Per a friends recommendation I bought a large camelbak water bottle which helped a lot because the straw makes you drink more water, and I also live on polar seltzer now - so many flavors!
ReplyDeleteI think that the most important thing is to be consistent with your workouts, so do whatever it takes to make that happen. If going to the gym is not an option I think that a treadmill or elliptical machine at home is a great idea. Once you start working out every day you will crave that feeling, especially once the results start to show :) You are going through the toughest part right now, just hang in there and stay motivated. You can do it!!
ReplyDeleteKerry -- I highly recommend the BowFlex TreadClimber (by Nautilus)! It's a combination treadmill, elliptical and step climber. It will absolutely transform your body but is also very easy on the joints. Working out for 30 minutes 3 times a week will absolutely jumpstart your metabolism and you'll burn more calories than that same time on a regular treadmill. I really swear by this piece of equipment. It's a little more expensive then your average Treadmill but a great investment. There are frequent special offers/discounted prices and they will ship and then assemble for you for a small fee. I have been using along with Weight Watchers and you WILL lose. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI second keeping a Camelbak nearby-- the straw makes the drinking of ALL OF THE WATER seem almost mindless. I also keep a Rubbermaid Carafe at my desk-- I add fruit (strawberries, orange slices, lemon slices, berries, mint) before I leave home in the morning and refill all day with ice cold filtered water at work-- it keeps it fun!
ReplyDeleteI have a rowing machine which I love. So much better than a treadmill and a good arm workout, too! Consider it... http://www.amazon.com/WaterRower-Oxbridge-Machine-Cherry-S4/dp/B000A6V4RW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
ReplyDeleteI enjoy drinking water. One way I enjoy it is by drinking decaf tea. There are SO many flavors that never need any sweetener. Particularly the fruit-blended ones, chamomile, and green teas. Just something worth considering as an alternative. Fruit ice might be good to try, and you know what? A pound is a pound! You are gradually getting there which is the big thing.

I buy gallons of Poland Spring and then fill a glass pitcher with water, slice lemons and add. Cover it with saran and each time you open the fridge you will see it and hopefully drink it. Another hint is that with each glass of water or seltzer I add lots of ice...it's much more refreshing...and you can also finish off the cubes! Now, when I had my boys I didn't have enough $$$$ to buy a treadmill so I would just time myself and either walk around my basement or up and down the stairs for a 1/2 hr. each day...it really helped. Regardless, it is not a quick process to lose the bbaby weight but just stick with it...it WILL come off.
