The Bump :: 16 Weeks!

Rocking the Bump on Nantucket this weekend!

Total Weight Gained/Loss? I have gained a total of 12 pounds! Wow, that is a lot. I might have went a bit overboard with my cravings the first trimester - whoops. I was really sick in the beginning, and when I felt okay to eat, I was craving things like pizza and mozzarella sticks. I also was loving sour candy...you can see how I gained the weight pretty easily. Now that I am in the second trimester, I am feeling much better and I am making better food choices and being much more active!

Maternity Clothes: Kind of. I have bought a couple of pair of maternity pants. I just hate the feeling of anything tight on my tummy right  now. I can still wear my own tops and flowy summer dresses which is nice. Bathing suit shopping has not been fun, haha!

Sleep? Sleep has been good! I am pretty much beat and need to go to sleep by 10:30 pm. Although now I am all nervous that I am going to turn and sleep on my back during the night. According to the baby book I am reading, 16 weeks is a turning point and you can no longer sleep or rest on your back...bad for baby! Ahh! I have to admit, I woke up at one point last night and freaked out because I was on my back.

Best Moment of the Week? Signing the Purchase and Sale on our new home! Yay! Baby B is going to have an awesome new home! We are very excited about this next step :)

Movement? NOTHING! I can't wait to feel baby. I even tried drinking orange juice and sitting still to see if I could feel anything but nothing!

Food Craving? Pasta and ice cream and pickles and GREEN OLIVES --> I have been eating these by the jar!

Food aversions: Um nothing...hence my weight gain...hahahah!

Morning sickness? GONE! Thank goodness! It was so bad in the beginning :(

Gender? We find out the gender on July 26th! We are very excited. I still think it's a boy but we will see!

Belly Button? Still in.

What I miss? Not gonna lie. I miss my dirty martinis! O yeah and my energy!

What I'm looking forward to: Finding out if Baby B is a boy or a girl!

Weekly Wisdom: Go with the flow and be flexible!

Milestones: 16 weeks down!

  3. So excited for you. I know you and MMB are very amped up about all of the new stuff happening in your lives together but I know all of us Facebook/Twitter/Blog friends are happy for you too! I think, as a non-Mom, my only advice on the sleeping thing is to see about getting a couple of body pillow to keep you in place. That is what one of my friends did. You make such a beautiful Mommy-to-Be!

  6. You look great! I am 20 weeks preggo right now, with my first as well. We found out last week that it's a boy! In regards to the sleeping on your back, my doctor said to try to fall asleep on your side (left preferably), and if you happen to wake up on your back, it's not the end of the world, but try not to intentionally fall asleep that way. As someone else mentioned, the body pillows do work well to help you stay on your side, but look for a "mommy-to-be" one specifically b/c they're contoured for our growing selves! You'll probably feel movement soon - I felt my first flutters around 18w4d, and now I've felt them daily, if even just for 10 minutes or so. It's definitely a weird feeling at first, and catches you off guard sometimes! ha Good luck!!

  7. Don't freak out about sleeping on your back, if it's a problem, your body will wake you up. The body pillows are comfy during the last trimester, and maybe that will help with positioning now if you are worried. Congrats on the new house!!

  8. Oh, with my first, it wasn't until 19.5 weeks that I could feel the baby!!

  9. I started feeling movement around 17ish weeks, I think? It sort of feels like a rubber band popping in there. Very strange. It's neat though!

and as someone who slept on their back all the time before pregnancy, i had the same worries and stressed about it myself. My ob said as long as you try to fall asleep on your side, you should be ok and that your body will wake you up otherwise. :)
