Mod Podge of thoughts...

1. How does the week go by so fast? Really! It's thursday and I feel like yesterday was Monday and I haven't gotten a quarter of things that I wanted to get done - DONE! grrr

2. I really need to start writing my blog posts when I have free time and schedule them to post, I always have great intentions of getting my posts done daily and then I run out of time. My life is just to crazy, lately. Do you schedule your blog posts?

3. It is very nasty in Boston today, cold, raw and rainy. But I made the best of it with my bright monogrammed umbrella from A. Tierney and my Hunter rain boots :)

4. The hubs and I took our niece, CEB, pumpking picking this weekend. It was lots of fun and it reminded me what a wonderful Daddy MMB will be one day!

5. One of my besties got married about a month ago and it was such a fun weekend!
The bride and me!

6. We are wrapping up the 2011 wedding season with our 10th wedding since May. So excited to celebrate AL & JM in NYC.
AL is in the blue, at our wedding this June!

Town & Country did an awesome feature
on monograms in their October issue.
I love all the different monogram ideas
and I know I will just have to use some these monograms for gift ideas!
Doesn't this spread inspire you?

Love this idea!

I was flipping through this months issue of Real Simple and I came across this fabulous idea.  I love to cinch my cardigan with a belt but I HATE when the belt sticks out...ruins the look. Well, use a ribbon instead! Tie a length of velvet or grosgrain ribbon around the slim part of your waist,
then clip the ends to the ideal length.
 Genius!

Love it!

Baptism/Christening Gifts

While I am still in the thick of the "getting married" phase -- MMB and I had 10 weddings from May to October! We are just starting to enter the "I'm having a baby" phase. Our friends C & J had a beautiful baby girl back in August and we were invited to her Baptism and Baptism party this past Saturday. Such a fun time! I wanted to find a cute personalized gift and I knew just where to get it. I ordered a custom frame from The Dahl House and it came out perfect.
I now have my go to Christening gift!

Bourbon and Apple Cider Cocktail!

I am having the girls over tomorrow night for a Harvest Dinner Party! I know we are going to have so much fun and I can't wait to see them all. I wanted to have a signature cocktail and a friend recommended the bourbon and apple cider idea! Love it. I'll take pictures and let you know how they turned out!

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Apple Cider, refrigerated
  • 2 parts Ginger Ale, refrigerated – I recommend a good Ginger Ale…one that really has an evident taste of ginger. I used Boylan Ginger Ale for this cocktail. (I am going to use Ginger Beer instead!)
  • 1 part Bourbon

The Look For Less...

Well, I have been on a shopping craze. I just felt that I really needed to update my wardrobe a bit. I have to say, I am pretty proud of myself, while the hubby has raised his eyebrows at all the shopping bags I have been bringing home, I haven't broke the bank! I have been shopping smartly and there have been some wonderful sales. I have done really well at Banana Republic the past two weeks. However, for more novelty items, I love getting the look for less. Here are some of my fav picks:

Pumpkin Decor

I am having the girls over next week for a fall harvest dinner, so I have been keeping my eye out for cute decor ideas. I just loved Southern Living's pumpkin spread in this months issue.
I am going to try to do the flower covered pumpkins...
I'll keep you posted on how they turn out!

Materials: carving or soft-skinned pumpkins, awl (pointed tool), mum plants or cut mums

                                                                                         Instructions:
1.) Poke a hole in the pumpkin using the awl.
2.) Cut a stem from the mum plant, and place in the hole.
3.) Repeat until pumpkin is covered.

Topped with silver serving pieces, pale gray and green pumpkins add interesting height to your buffet.

Materials: heirloom pumpkins with flat tops, small saw, serving pieces

Instructions:
1.)
If necessary, remove the pumpkin stems with a small saw.
2.) Balance plates and trays on flat tops of pumpkins.
Tip: Choose from both tall and squatty pumpkins for a variety of heights.
