MAINE!

Well it's that time of year again! Early tomorrow morning, I am heading up to our family cabin in Maine for a good week of relaxing with the family and good friends! There is no television or Internet and very poor cell service -- we think it's perfect! See you in a week!

I have some exciting news to share! I BOUGHT MY WEDDING dress!!! I love it, it is just perfect. I think it is sophisticated, elegant and romantic all at the same time. It is so true what they say, when you put the right dress on, you just know it is "the one"! Now that I have found my dress, I am moving onto the bridesmaid dresses, I know they will be navy but I haven't decided on styles yet. I am loving LulaKate and Jenny Yoo!

Wedding Dress Update!

I have been home for just over a week now and I feel pretty good about what Mommy and I have accomplished in terms of wedding planning!

ü Engagement Party Date and Venue

ü Engagement Party Invitations

(well narrowed it down to a couple of options)

ü Completed the contract for the band!!!

ü Went to look at a couple of tents that have been set up by the company we are using for the reception. (Beautiful!!!)

ü Wedding Gown Appointments

Ahhh - the wedding gown appointments. I have no idea why in my head I thought this process would be much simpler. I knew I wanted a simple, elegant, chic (probably lace) wedding gown appropriate for a Hamptons wedding (meaning no ball gowns please! Not into the puffy…)! I also don’t love the way strapless dresses look on me. This is kind of a problem in the world of wedding dresses. Almost all dresses are strapless – ahhhhh! The good news is that now that I have tried on a lot of dresses, I know what I don’t like! My mom and I have found a wedding dress silhouette that we love on my shape – yay! I also tried on a bateau neckline gown that I loved, it was very me, and gave off a Jackie O/ Grace Kelly feel. So we will be going back to try that gown on again. I just feel more pressure than I thought I would in choosing a gown, I know I will find the perfect dress for me, it may just take some time!

First Day of Trying on Wedding Gowns!

Just a quick post to say today is the day. Well, the first day I will be trying on wedding gowns! I think every girl thinks of this day for a very long time! I am nervous and excited at the same time. My mother and I are heading into NYC and have appointments at Kleinfeld's, Carolina Herrera, and Vera Wang!

Cruisin' on the Hudson with Vineyard Vines...

Last night I was lucky enough to head out on the Hudson River with the Vineyard Vines crew! A great time was had by all, the weather was perfect (okay maybe a bit hot...), the cocktails were flowing (in VV koozies of course), and the band was rocking! The whole Vineyard Vines team was so gracious and fun - can't wait to see them all again soon!

Wedding Wednesday!

I arrived home in NY yesterday and my Mom had another engagement present waiting for me. She is the best! While on Nantucket during my engagement weekend, my Mom had a custom ring holder made for me out of a Nantucket Basket! It is amazing, I love it!

Let's hear it for New York...

Well I am headed home to NY for about 13 days! I am so very happy, I will be in NYC and The Hamptons. My besties who live in NYC have not seen my engagement ring yet and are very excited to see it and celebrate! I will be doing lots of wedding planning and relaxing while I am home, expect some fun posts from NY!

We have another wedding this weekend, the fourth one of the summer! I wanted to wear something a little different and a friend suggested I check out Donna Morgan. You can find her dresses at Nordstrom. Have any of you worn her? I am liking the dress below but am not totally sold on it. I think it would look great with my Lauren Merkin clutch and my metallic heels by Charles David. I am also usually a stud girl but I am loving Chrissy L's dangly earrings!

Wedding Wednesday!

Exciting news, wedding colors have been picked! We are going with Navy, Sky Blue, White, and Sunburst Yellow! We are just in the beginning stages but I am loving these colors. So excited to begin exploring all the different options I can create with this palette of colors.

Catching Turtles in Madaket!

When I need a break from the beach, I like to head out to Madaket and catch these huge turtles that live in Long Pond. The turtles are so big and have an appetite for raw chicken thighs. To see the turtles in action, you need to invest in some thighs and some heavy duty string, simply tie the thigh to the string and dangle! The turtles swarm the dangling delicacy and eventually bite in and will hang from the chicken thigh, it's crazy to see!

Dinner at the Galley!

Last night we had a wonderful dinner with friends at The Galley, our table was right on the beach and the sunset was beautiful. If you ever go to Nantucket, you simply must eat or at least have cocktails at The Galley. The night became even more exciting when John Kerry, Ben Watson and Kathy Lee Gifford walked in. It was quite the scene!
