While the trend right now may be screaming statement necklaces sometimes being ahead of the times (or behind) is really where it's at...My bff KVS who is a buyer at Saks, of course always dresses tres fab, she looked amazing when she showed up to my Memorial Day Weekend bash in a classic off the shoulder top. I decided to get her fashion advice about the trend, here is what she has to say:
"I love this off the shoulder full button up oxford from Ralph Lauren. First seen on Rachel Green in a Friends episode circa 2004 I knew I needed this staple item. I also knew KAG's annual MDW soiree would be bustling with preppy fashionistas wearing their finest white piques of the season that they had hiding in their closets since labor day, calypso dresses in a rainbow of colors and strapless numbers with their necks dripping in statement enamel necklaces and bangles from JCrew. So I decided to keep it simple and sweet and pull out this vintage piece from my closet. (We at Saks say once a garment ages 5 years its vintage in our eyes). I kept it clean and crisp with white h&m skinnies (80% cheaper than my paper denim and cloth) white jacks a few white bangles and my classic speedy but from the feedback of those fabulous attendants I knew I made just as big of a statement as those kappas dancing to shout around me."
So stash those necklaces in your monogrammed jewelry boxes and make a statement by showing some shoulder!
PS:Make sure your tan lines don't ruin the look, try a bandeau one piece bathing suits - appropriate for all poolside occasions!
